SAQIB BHATTI – JOINT SECRETARY GENERAL
Saqib Bhatti is a Chartered Accountant and Auditor and is a Director at Younis Bhatti & Co. in Birmingham.
Saqib holds a number of board positions across the West Midlands with the most notable being that he is President of the Asian Business Chamber of Commerce and is Director of Business Support at the Greater Birmingham and Solihull Local Enterprise Partnership. He is a Director of the Westside Business Improvement District and also an Executive Board Member of the Lunar Society.
Through his business and numerous board positions, Saqib has significant experience when it comes to understanding the needs and requirements of businesses and the challenges that are faced everyday by businesses and people.
AFTAB CHUGHTAI MBE – JOINT SECRETARY GENERAL and MUSLIMS FOR BRITAIN BUSINESS CHAMPION
Aftab Chughtai is a West Midlands based businessman who runs a department store specialising in baby items.
Aftab was recognised in Her Majesty’s New Years’ Honours Listing and was awarded an MBE for his contribution to business and community services.
Aftab holds a number of board positions around the city including being Chair of the West Midlands Police Independent Advisory Group, Chair of Muslim Burial Council,Trustee and Safeguarding Lead for Washwood Heath Multi Academy Trust. He was a founder member of Birmingham East Operational Advisory Group West Midlands Police and is Vice Chair of the Saltley Business Association.
He was previously Stakeholder Governor at Heart of England NHS Trust and also led at on the Conservative Social Action Projects in 2010 and also opened at the Conservative Party Conference in that very year.
IFTIKHAR AWAN – CIVIC SOCIETY LEAD AND SUBCOMMITTEE CHAIR FOR MANCHESTER AND YORKSHIRE
Iftikhar Awan is a customer services specialist and has worked over the past 12 years with local government and housing associations to introduce new services, or improve/transform existing ones. His work in local government includes housing, social services, environment and children’s services. His skill base is wide and includes business strategy/consulting, programme and project management (Prince2 practitioner), organisational change/transformation, and business process re-engineering.
Iftikhar has a wealth of experience of working in both private and public sector organisations, ranging from local authorities to social landlords, the BBC and financial institutions. He has previously been a member of the Board of Trustees of Islamic Relief Worldwide, Islamic Relief USA and on the Board of Management of Islamic Relief Worldwide. He is currently coordinator of the Muslim Leadership Panel, an initiative set up in 2011 to advise the Government on issues related to the British Muslim Community.
